Manner principles:
- Value feelings of guests over own possessions

Case examples:
- No need to respond to offensive or racial slurs, do:
  • Change the topic.
  • Ignore.
  • Avoid the urge to rise to the defense.
  • Say, 'You must be talking about me. I'm ...'
  • Say, 'I don't appreciate that kind of remark.'
  • No need to support or laugh at such a poor display of taste

- You possess the skills, expertise, and the experience but do not have the educational degrees to match it up to people's expectations but you feel that you understand the value of the degree, try "I did it the hard way, although I can't say I would recommend this to others

- Ask for time off: http://work.chron.com/ask-boss-day-off-22303.html Follow company policy, Give sufficient notice, Provide a reason, Express gratitude - "Thank you so much for considering my request. The time off is very important to me."
